Heating Controls & Smart Thermostats in Worcester

Good controls do more for running costs than most people expect. A modern programmable or smart thermostat, correctly sited and set up, stops the house heating rooms nobody is using at times nobody is home. We fit and configure controls as standalone upgrades or as part of a boiler installation.

What the work involves

Carried out by our own Gas Safe registered engineers — we do not subcontract the work out.

  • Thermostat upgrades

Mechanical and dial controls replaced with programmable or smart thermostats.

  • Zoning

Splitting a property into zones so upstairs and downstairs can run independently.

  • TRVs

Thermostatic radiator valves fitted and set so individual rooms can be tuned.

  • Wiring and commissioning

Controls wired correctly to the boiler and set up so they actually do what you expect.

  • Handover

We show you how to use the schedule properly, not just where the app is.

Common problems we see

  • Heating on when the house is empty
  • Upstairs roasting while downstairs is cold
  • Old dial controls with no schedule
  • A smart thermostat that was fitted but never configured

Why choose A-Select

  • Better comfort room by room
  • Less energy spent heating unused space
  • Controls set up and explained, not just installed
  • Fitted alongside a boiler install where it makes sense

FAQs

Heating Controls — your questions answered

Will a smart thermostat save me money?

+

It can, if the schedule is set to match how you actually use the house. The saving comes from not heating empty rooms and empty hours, not from the app itself.

Can you add zoning to my existing system?

+

Often yes, depending on the pipework layout. We look at how the system is plumbed before advising.

Do TRVs replace a room thermostat?

+

No. TRVs tune individual radiators; the room thermostat tells the boiler when to fire. You want both, working together.

Can you fit controls at the same time as a new boiler?

+

Yes, and it is usually the most sensible time to do it.
