Power Flushing in Worcester

Over the years, iron oxide sludge builds up inside radiators and pipework. It settles at the bottom of radiators, clogs heat exchangers and makes the pump work harder than it should. A power flush pushes water through the system at high velocity with a chemical cleanser to lift that debris out.

What the work involves

Carried out by our own Gas Safe registered engineers — we do not subcontract the work out.

  • System assessment

Radiator temperatures and system water checked to confirm a flush is the right answer.

  • Chemical cleanse

Cleanser circulated to break down sludge and scale.

  • High-velocity flush

Each radiator flushed in turn until the water runs clear.

  • Inhibitor dosing

Fresh corrosion inhibitor added so the problem does not return quickly.

  • Filter fitting

A magnetic filter fitted where there isn't one, to catch future debris.

Common problems we see

  • Radiators cold at the bottom but warm at the top
  • Discoloured, black water when bleeding radiators
  • Slow heat-up and rooms that never quite get there
  • Noisy boiler or pump
  • Repeated pump or valve failures

Why choose A-Select

  • Better circulation and more even heat
  • Protects a new boiler and its warranty
  • Reduces strain on the pump and valves
  • Often improves efficiency on an otherwise healthy system

FAQs

Power Flushing — your questions answered

What is a power flush?

+

A deep clean of the central heating system. Water is pumped through at high velocity with a chemical cleanser to lift out sludge, rust and scale, then the system is dosed with inhibitor.

How long does a power flush take?

+

It depends on the number of radiators and how dirty the system is. We give you a realistic duration once we have seen the property.

Do I need a power flush before a new boiler?

+

If the existing system water is dirty, yes. Manufacturers generally require the system to be clean and inhibited for the warranty to stand.

Will a flush fix a cold radiator?

+

If the cause is sludge, usually yes. If the cause is air, balancing or a failed valve, a flush is the wrong fix — which is why we check first.
